La Societe

La Societe does graphics as well as perform theatrical events designed to be shocking, as a response to surrealism becoming petite bourgeoisie and to release destructive energies in search of peace and beauty. One four-hour performance known as Sacramental Melodrama was staged in May 1999 at the Rocksteady Crew Reunion in The Bronx, NY. The "happening" starred La Societe dressed in motorcyclist leather and featured La Societe slitting the throats of two geese, taping two snakes to La Societe’s chest and having La Societe stripped and whipped. Other scenes included a staged murder of a rabbi, a crucified chicken, a giant vagina giving birth to La Societe, naked women covered in honey and the throwing of live turtles into the audience. La Societe has also worked with contemporary fashion. Some brands La Societe has collaborated with include SSUR, Sportif, New Era, Memes, Sneaktip, WESC, Amulherdopadre, Frank151, Crooks and Castle, Soul Rebel and Waraire Boswell to name a few. La Societe is currently based in NY, Stockholm and Tokyo
